
Tucked away in southwestern Minnesota in the town of Fairmont is a unique building which has enriched the cultural, architectural and commercial life of the region for over 100 years. The Fairmont Opera House was built not for profit, but for the use, benefit, pleasure and entertainment for all people.
The current mission of the Fairmont Opera House is “To provide a historical arts and entertainment center that promotes cultural growth and community involvement.” Through the Package Series programming, residencies, educational programming, and challenging performances, patrons are exposed to cultures from around the world. To accomplish this, the Fairmont Opera House offers multiple National and International acts annually.
Red Rock Center for the Arts (formerly known as The First Church of Christ Scientist) is a 1898 historic building designed by prominent Minnesota architect Harry W. Jones. It is an excellent example of the Richardsonian Romanesque style. It is cons tructed of Sioux Quartzite (red rock),quarried in southwestern Minnesota. Today, the building is operated by the Martin County Preservation Association, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
The Red Rock Center for the Arts is proud to display a wide variety of fine art from emerging to experienced artists. A new visual artist is featured every month, and viewing is always free of charge. This community art center also offers a wide variety of affordable entertainment for all ages. Enjoy a wide variety of musical concerts featuring big band, swing, jazz, cultural, strings, piano, and more. Our beautiful hardwood floors are perfect for ballroom dancing. The gallery space is available to rent for that special occasion. A perfect location for small weddings, receptions, birthdays, fundraisers, and more. A smaller conference room is available in the lower level for business meetings and smaller gatherings.
