After grabbing clubs and balls from Graffiti Corner, we headed across the street to Fairmont’s Free Mini-golf course. My son loves golf, so this was a favorite of the weekend as there’s not many places you can golf for free. Each hole is sponsored by a different business or family in town and designed accordingly. The kids loved learning about the different businesses. Between the 18 holes, there were plenty of obstacles to overcome. My personal favorite was the hole with the tooth while the kids loved the excavator hole. Despite the holes being challenging, two of us got hole in ones, which was an experience we haven’t accomplished much while adding to our fun.
Pro Tip: Grab a score card and pencil from the mini-golf board at the entrance if you want some competition between the family.

Conveniently located right next to the free mini-golf course, we grabbed a few bikes from the Fairmont Bike Share. We easily uploaded the needed app for our phones to check out two bikes for free. Since our kids’ bikes are smaller, we just easily brought them on the trip. It was so nice to be able to rent bikes for free and ride along with them. The bikes were effortless to pedal and quick to adjust for our heights. This was the perfect addition to our fall trip, as we could enjoy the changing leaves all around us as we rode. Since we wanted to hit up Gomsrud Park, we decided to bike there. An easy trip with beautiful views of a few of the lakes, this is the perfect distance for your kids who are still building up their bike-riding endurance.

A stunning park sandwiched between two beautiful lakes, this is the ultimate playground that allows for play and observing nature all around. I love that they kept the original park here with a cute little jeep that allows for creative play and animal swings that my kids couldn’t stop talking about. Yet, Gomsrud also has a fun inclusive playground with a mix of climbing, music, ziplines, spinning, and slides. We all burned off a little more energy here before heading back on our bikes.
Pro Tip: Make sure to check out the canal that connects both lakes that is close to the park. It’s such a pretty spot!

A Minnesota mama of 3, I love exploring and finding new hidden gems as a family with my husband! I started my blog in honor of my dad who died of Lewy Body Dementia almost three years ago. We began adventure Fridays with him to make memories and adventure. Since he died, we have continued on with the tradition and hope to inspire others to make all the memories with loved ones before they are gone. Our family loves nature, being active, and every ice cream shop.
Let the hospitality in Fairmont welcome you! Just off Interstate-90, you’ll find a wide selection of hotels and restaurants. Perhaps a more rustic stay at a cabin or camping near the lake is more your style – we’ve got you covered.
